Re: Partisan Stars
And last, here are two pics of my partisan star, serial numbered 4610. Note the scratched enamel, dark and even patina on the rifles and frame, and also the blackened reverse of the order and the dark brown screw post. It is even darker in hand than in these pics... This is how a worn partisan star should look like.
I hope all this is enough proof for one day. |

Observations are not proof. We both have collected over the years and you have obviously seen more Partisan Stars than I have, but you can't make conclusions based just on whether an item has scratches on it or not; you just can't do it. I admit my IKOM star is near mint and most likely from unissued stock, pretty much assured but, the soviet star does have a nice even patina front and back and there is a noticable difference under the screw disc. Perhaps my PIC's don't show this to your satisfaction, but taking PIC's under different lighting conditions and using different lighting can change the whole picture. Your pictures are considerably darker than mine and I could make mine look the same as yours, except those scratches of course. Whether or not mine was actually issued or not, I do not know or really care at this point and will wait for some more information to come to light. Thank you for your precious time and thoughts. Take care and again, enjoy your hobby. :relax |

Re: Order "Partisan Star"
3rd #22469. The hallmarks are rather pronounced on this piece.

Re: Order "Partisan Star"
I just found some of these on eBay, I FELL IN LOVE, seriously, they are gorgeous. Is $80 to $100 a good price range for these? Are there many fakes? What makes for a really nice one? Please feel free to PM me to discuss details or post here.
Here is a pic of one that I found, what are your thoughts? |

Re: Order "Partisan Star"
I've not seen fakes of the 3rd yet which doesn't mean they don't exist. Current market price I have seen (and turned down) is $45-$55. More when you add cases, documents, lower numbers etc.

Re: Order "Partisan Star"
Bundtrock,
There were two different manufacturings of these stars: early Soviet, then later Yugoslavian. The former are more valuable and scarcer, hence commanding a slight premium. The latter ones are very common and IMHO not worth anything close to what you mention. Marc |
