Re: Translation Help

I don't use THIS system but it's rather close to the one I use.

Here is a table various people can argue about if they wish - Romanization of Russian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The official system of the FMS of the RF is | 52535.1-2006 - . . 1. - Note how few times the letter Y is in the alphabet.

I really wouldn't enjoy Emperor Nikolaj II (or any of the emperors) being referred to as "Car". Carica? Oh dear!

Re: Translation Help

The fact it's written "Car" doesn't make it sound like automobile. To me transliteration "Czar", that some use, is a total craziness - I automaticaly read it "char" and the problem is the same as with "car" for english speakers, as the word "czar" means "spell" or "charm" in Polish.
"Tsar" seems most universal to me - no prounciacion problems for anybody (I think).
And btw. It is carica (tsaritsa), not carina (tsarina)?

Re: Translation Help

Both were given to Boris Lvovich Ostrovsky; the Lenin Centennial doc on April 1, 1970 by the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Lutugino Raion and the Veteran of Labor doc on Feb 20, 1978 by the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Voroshilovgrad Oblast.

Re: Translation Help

Interesting group to (Sergeant) Natalia Vasnlevna (?) Davidenko, but I am having some difficulty with these two Socialist Competition Winner documents for 1973 and 1980. I need the 1973 document translated, please. Note how the dates on the 1980 document appear altered. I will post the entire documents group once I obtain the information from these documents.

Actually, "senior storekeeper". Not a title I've seen before.

I don't know the acronyms on the bottom so I'll leave that for someone who does.

Interesting "1980" document. If you have the doc in hand, how exactly was the date altered?

Re: Translation Help

I marked in yellow where the dates were subtly changed, as if they up or back dated the form itself.
