Re: How to display Soviet awards
And for a fantasy piece, that "SMERSH" badge is really nice.

Re: How to display Soviet awards
My documented awards currently all live in riker displays in a big cardboard box under my desk. It's not ideal, but it will have to do.
My undocumented awards are kept in this jewelry box. Four of them, two ORS, an OGPW2, and the ORB ,are researched. All of these the medals in here are WW2. The blue case is a Czech medal I picked up in Český Krumlov earlier this summer. As a side collection, I try and get a medal from every country I visit. -Alex Last edited by RedMaestro2; 08-11-2009 at 08:31 AM. |

Re: How to display Soviet awards
That works quite well, doesn't it. And the inside color is a perfect fit, too!

Re: How to display Soviet awards
I've been trying to think of ways to make some of my stuff mobile. I though of a tackle box, but the compartments tend to be the wrong size - not to mention no padding. So thanks Alex, I'll hit the flea market and hobby shop this weekend.

Re: How to display Soviet awards
Very cool Wayne!
The first one, with the documents...are those riker mounts &/or how do you have the docs/wards mounted so the don't slip out of place? And the third one....man, what a beautiful collection. And the image, I just noticed would make one helluva wallpaper! And that makes me think that somebody should design a few SMAP wallpapers.

hey guys
thanks for the comments in regards to the cases with the booklets. In regards to the cases I order small thin dept cases. They come with a white spun polyester inside the case which has a glass lid. I then cut a heavy duty black card to fit the size of the frame and then cut a red card to the sizer of the medal and booklet. with the medal I fix a small double sided self sticking sponge to hld the medal in place (which will do no damage to the meadl as is removable without leaving any resadue) and the book stays in place through the nice fit of the lid, so nothing is needed to afix the booklet at all I am mounting some more medals in the next day or so so will post the method if anyone is interested, or if anyone wants I can make display cases for those who wish, let me know just another couple of awards I have just finished framed kiwi Last edited by CtahhR; 06-09-2014 at 03:06 PM. |
