Re: Fake Guarding the State Border Medals
So this one might be a good deal if the price was not too high right?

Any suggestions on this medal? I think it is made of silver considering the patina.

Re: Fake Guarding the State Border Medals
It looks right to me (on first, quick glance), but the only way to be sure is by weight - unless we have folks with more knowledge than myself.

Re: Fake Guarding the State Border Medals
Thanks Phillip! I'm still waiting on my precision scale and metal testing kit I bought on ebay. When it arrives, I can give the exact weight.

Re: Fake Guarding the State Border Medals
Strange looking obverse, or is it due to the patina???

Re: Fake Guarding the State Border Medals
I've seen patina like that, but usually not on solid silver.

Hi all, I got my scale today and it weights 16,18 g
Btw, the silver test solution says it is not made of silver. Last edited by CtahhR; 12-29-2012 at 08:35 AM. |

Re: Fake Guarding the State Border Medals
Yes, you might be right there Marc but I did it as carefully as possible. No visable traces left.
