Re: M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
These branch insignia were not used during the 1955-58 period. The jacket is for infantry.
I am not sure about this emblems, but if I remember correctly, these were used with m43 uniforms for the intendant/quatermaster service. Anyway - they don't belong there, as for m55 uniforms the emblem for this branch was the same as for the infantry, only silver. |

Re: M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
thanks a lot. You confirm what I read in my doc - but I was not confident with my understanding of my russian doc.
what surprises me is that those insignias are theoretycally older, rarer so more expensive. An ignorant seller playing with insignias? all pieces of cloth are correctly sewn. And almost, it would have been easier to put a more common and cheaper pair of insignias. Could it be a "put-up" made by the original owner? This is a tenuous hypothesis: some irregularities were visible on many photos, but...

Re: M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
I would say it's possible - especially if the officer was retired. After all - the old emblem looked much better than the new one.

Re: M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
This pic is interesting, because of caption on the back.
It says: "Retired Major Vdovin Petr Evstarevich, former chief of HQ of division 576 of the Artillery Order of Red Banner Order of B. Khmelnitskiy regiment during the liberation of the city of Nowy Targ. Picture [taken] 1948" It's nice to know that even professionals make mistakes:) The pic was send from soviet archive to Nowy Targ for some exhibition in 60's |

Re: M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
A nice academy graduation souvenire showing Soviet officers in m55 un iforms and Polish officers in m52 uniforms.
The Soviets all seem to be the academy employees, so I belive this particular pic was given only to the Polish graduates listed here... |

Re: M1955 Uniforms and Insignia!
The first uniform with wide silver boards and purple stripes is intendent, often translated as "supply" branch..
The second uniform with narrow silver boards and red stripes is administration and has been discussed in this thread: http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...-question.html |
