Victory Parade 2005 recording
I have VHS recording of 2 parade broadcasts by different channels and a documentary with archival footage on history of Red Square parades. The documentary is awesome with some closeups on generals' uniforms and their awards during 1945 and 1965 parades. If it doesn't violate forum and U.S. copyright laws, I can make copies though I have to warn: the quality of recording is not the best.

There is a cd available with marches by Simeon Chernetskij (Semeon Tchernetsky), performed by Leningrad Military District Heaquarters Band... it has a lot of marches which I think may have been played in those days.

Justin,
I don't think this is exactly what you are looking for, anyway I have a copy of a CD (in my case I made a copy from a version edited in France, called "Les choeurs de l'Armée Rouge" or in English, "The Red Army Chorus") with 24 beautiful songs from the period 1941-1945. Apparently the author of this CD is Boris Alexandrov, but each song has it's own author(s), including eventually B. Alexandrov. One of my very favorites is called "Samovary/Samopaly", by A. Novikov and S. Alymov! I wish I could understand the words, but anyway you got all the Russian period feeling... Many others have suggestive titles such as "The Victory Day" or "The Dniepr", "We will win", "Song of the Defenders of Moscow", etc... Please PM me if I can help in any way. Tretov- I think I have that cd. Very good one at that. A bunch of them I know were played at the 1945 Parade (March of the Guards Mortar Men, Glory to the Motherland, and Farewell of the Slavonic Girl just to name some). Glory to the Motherland is one of my favorite marches.
Dolf- I tihnk I have that cd too. i love the Red Army Chorus- you just can't beat them! I have a few other ones too, and a number of misclenaious songs ive downloaded by them. Anyways, back to the parade marches. I know what a few of the songs were, but ther eis one specific one I;m looking for. If i cna jsut figure thta one out, ill b happy It's the one played when Zhukov is reviewing the troops at the start of the parade. It isnt Glory to the Motherland, its the one before that. Anyone know which one I am tlaking about? Justin |

Guys,
I just found this article on the site of the French Embassy in Russia, relating that 5 former members of the Normandie-Niemen group had been invited in Moscow in honor of the 60th Anniversary of Victory. http://www.ambafrance.ru/article.php3?id_article=1158 Marc |
