I've got what I hope to be a RBL from Русские Самоцветы - Russian Gemstones Factory!
Thought you might like to take a peek. #556,435

Also; it's nice to know when these lovely awards were minted. It gives me an idea when they could've been awarded.

You've got an excellent point there Eric.:thumbsup I've regained my interest in these beauties just by knowing when and where they were made.

Very nice order, by the way. I especially like the rivets (gold colored and not mashed) - very interesting.

БЮФ is most likely Baku Factory. The other one with the same abbreviation, Bronnitsy Factory, seems quite a bit smaller but I can't be sure.

It could be the Bronnitsky Jewelry Factory since they also produced type 3 OPW2s and Baku didn't... Just my two cents.

Nice order Eric! This is one of my ORBL, same period but from Leningrad Jewelery Factory. Like other jewelery factory, strange rivets and serial :).

Re: Order of Red Banner of Labor - which version?

I agree with Phillip, those are classic buffing scars.

"Ugly/Childish" RBL

I've discovered that I had a variety I didn't know even existed. This is a RBL that was part of the railroad commandant set--I posted the Red Star from the set and a group shot here:
http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...-161667-a.html

I always thought the serial number on the RBL from this set looked a little "goofy," but I had no idea this is an obscure variety. The story goes, the mint had PTU (Vocational Technical School) students come in and practice their engraving skills. This variety is called "ugly/childish" which certainly looks this way. Not too many of these around, I read one thousand--but only time and more data will show for sure.
