Thanks Tom,

For some reason the serial number was erased. Could be the initial owner who was afraid the authorities could trace the medal back to him?

Hello Guys,

Would like to enlist the benefit of your vast experience in providing your views on the Nakhimov Medal currently for sale.

As previous posts indicate there are a lot of fakes out there, but i'm not sure about this one. It's being sold as Authentic (but that doesn't carry much weight nowadays).

But: the outer rim is heavily scratched ! Be aware of not paying too much for it !

I tend to think its good. Most watermarks are ok even though the points of the star on its obverse look a bit sharp and the lower rows of the canon hatches lack some detail. This could very well just appear to be the case due to the moderate quality of the images. Better pictures wouldn't hurt. ;-)

I thought so either...

110 dots on the obverse, 111 on the reverse. And the chain watermark at least SEEMS to be there too... but I am not quite sure 100% due to the ****ty images, the seller provided...

Much easier to compare the serial number.

N°2118 no good, real S/n N°2109

Are you particularly referring to the shape of the "1"? If so, I've seen authentic ones of both types.
