There were at least a hundred thousand Red Stars issued by that decree.

Your example is very interesting, though. What you have there is a 1985 reissue for a 1956 long service award. Quite fascinating, if the duplicate is indeed legitimate. :thumbsup

Looks like another 10 and 15 years service set - with a nice twist! Looks like there were lots of Red Stars issued on the 30th December 1956.

From what I've observed:

Min - 3,309,xxx
Max - 3,568,xxx

With most of them 3,4xx,xxx - 3,5xx,xxx.

Wondered about that myself. What's with the mark over the trooper's shoulder that seems to correspond with the discoloration on the reverse?
