Leningrad Medical Institute Graduate Badge.

This one I bought so long ago that I cannot remember what it is for - exactly. The seller in St Petersburg said it was a pre-WWII version of the Leningrad Medical Institute. Maybe. From all the university and academy badges I have seen since then, I am more inclined to think it was for just about anyone - maybe faculty only - but possibly for purchase?

It is about 25% smaller than other university graduation badges from this period. So I'm a little stumped because it is old with wire attaching the pieces on the top and the screwnut may not be original, but it reminders me of things I've seen from Baltic countries' old badges..

Anybody with any thoughts?

It's not in Avers8? I'll go peek. In the meanwhile I'd say it looks a little rough around the edges to be pre.....oh, say 50s. Just a wild guess mind you.
