Badge "Specialist" (Officers).

These two just arrived from Vilnius, Lithuania.
A bit heavier that I expected but lacking the classic 40s or 50s quality.
Not large at all as you can see by the partial medal to the left.
Still, nice additions to my latest collection.
Pardon the overexposure, it's been a long day.
Can do better pix tomorrow morning if anyone's interested.

Re: Qualification (?) badges

I have a question regarding the issueing of these badges. Can somebody please tell me what was required to earn the Qualification Badges for enlisted men and for officers? Or where I can find these informations?

Re: Qualification (?) badges

Good question, and one that I've been pondering lately.
This one is for officers so I'd guess that one would have to attend courses, pass tests, stay mostly sober while on duty and tow the party line better than the average Ivan.
For the enlisted long service badges I'd think something similar; stay out of most barfights and off the defaulters lists, suck up to the non-coms, attend party meetings and pay your party dues on time.
It's kind of similar to working in the decandent, capitolist west; keep your boss happy and you'll get an extra shift every now and again. :)

Re: Qualification (?) badges

Hi Eric, here is my first class version of the badge, but it sadly lacks the pin.

Cheers, Ade.

Re: Qualification (?) badges

Thanks a lot Eric! So it seems these badges were issued for good behaviour and not for real qualification. Very interesting. Ohh and Happy New Year!

Re: Tank Classification badges

Correct, but those are not tank clasification badges - these are oficer classification badges used in all the ground forces.
