Re: Romanian Visor Caps
Maybe I'm seeing it as being faded more than it actually is... hard to tell. The red colour, as it stands, is closer to Medical Service. I guess I've just got Pompieri on the mind due to some recent acquisitions.

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
Any thoughts on this cap being Securitate? I have no reason to doubt this seller, yet...

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
And the two side views... It is markedly different than anything posted above (regardless of era).

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
Looks like a Security Troops parade cap for a Colonel. The cap badge is a transitional type, probably early '60's.

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
All I can say then is that if anybody collects cloth from this area, it is going for a very reasonable price. If it were my "cup 'o tea" I would buy it. It's on the auction site so if you need to, PM me for the item #. (BTW, I have no interest in this deal. I don't even know the seller. I'm just giving the specialists a heads up.:thumbsup)
I almost forgot, this is for sale on another site as a "securitate" cap badge, but from what I've read (some from Greg) this is post-1989 or current Romanian police rather than the previous "militia." Phillip

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
Phil,
First, I'm wrong about that cap- it isn't Security Troops. Blue cap + red piping + yellow metal "scrambled eggs" + yellow metal cap badge = standard Army parade cap. Now to the Police cap badge; yes, it is post 1989 revolution- no Communist connection whatsoever. NOT Securitate or Militie.

Hmmmm, it seems like a bit much, but I'm not a uniform collector, only an appreciator.:D Phillip

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
Yeah, the leaves (which I call "scrambled eggs"- old military term) should be there if the individual was indeed a Colonel. They will get more fancy with a promotion to General.

Re: Romanian Visor Caps
Another Axis Romanian visor, for the "Royal Guard" (or something close).
