Note added

I've added a small note behind the abbreviation to save further confusion,

Regards Eddie.

Great job you guys started here (particularly Taz!).

I have a question aobut one abbreviation for which I cannot find the meaning.

It is in the service record of a soldier.. at the end, it says:
"Discharged from staff of the Soviet Army into reserve according to article 59 “b” (because of disease) with the right of wearing military uniform, on the registration to Dobel RVI Latvian SSR"

What does "RVI" stands for?

I would say it's a kind of military office or authority where this information was registered, but what is it exactly?

Thanks in advance to our experts!

Matteti,

I am guessing, it's not RVI, but rather RVK (PBK in Russian) or Local Military Commissariat.

Thanks Alexei for taking time to help me!
I really believe it's RVI. Please look at attached scan.

Thanks.

Nope, that's a "K", just somebody's bad penmanship.

Four more abbreviations...

Taz - here's a couple more that I didn't see on the list that I've recently encountered at home or on this forum. Maybe you could add them to your master post at the beginning of this string for future reference?

ар - Army (or "Armyish") - as obvious as this on is, it wasn't on these lists.

врид - "temporarily in the position of"

зам - deputy

зсп - reserve rifle regiment

Alexei,
the "vrid" or "vrio" was about one of my posts...

I am a bit confused now... Can you please take a quick look and let us know.

Here is the scan:
