dear sir the medal was awarded to him for saving some treasures from the german army in a library some ware and kruscheves wife nominated him herself i would be grateful if you could post on your web site a request for information my wife was told that here father only sent the certificate to the lenin museum in red square 16 years ago . so! some ware i have yet to ascertain were in my wife's family is a 1936 order of lenin she stated today that she remembers playing with them as a toddler as her grandmother was very poor and didn't have any toys just these medals witch she used to play with . i would be most grateful for photocopies of any newspaper clippings or anything really ?is it possible to get replicas of these orders of lenin ? i would be grateful for any advice that you could give to me the truly sad thing is that his son sold the document for the price of a bottle of vodka ! yours faithfully David Elwyn Jxxxxxx

So fellow members, anything we can do for this gentleman? Please either post here or PM me. I told him I could post this for him and we might get a few ideas.

date

What was he saving from the Germans in 1936? i just wonder, after years, how much of the story is accurate; if some is and some is not, then its going to be even more difficult to nail down.

Doug, I'll ask him..Paul, how could he do that without a serial number? Can he just forward this information to the researcher and taking into account how unique the award is, they would be able to find the missing info?

Giving the full name, as precise a date as possible, and the circumstances may bear fruit.

Maybe the year was '46. Would Nikita's wife have had such an influence in getting an OL awarded in 1936?

Jeff,

Perhaps you are right. To be frank, the emailer seemed somewhat sketchy on the dates and details. I'm sure that time has made the intricacies of the complete story somewhat hazy. I emailed him and gave him the name of a researcher. I suggested he contact them to see if there might be a possibility of any success in looking into this.

I think his chances are slim to none!

I was hoping for a little better than that, given the significance of the award. I guess he'll have to do a little more work to get the answers he seeks. The more information he can provide to the researcher, the better the results.

Re: An Email I received from a visitor, Khruschev awarded Order of Lenin

I was under the impression that Kruschev did not have that much authority in 1936 to be that influental especially since his wife nominated the award. I agree that the date and detail information is sketchy but it seems that given a name and ideas on the date of the award, there might be a hair of a chance. The wife remembers playing with the award, does she know that this is the award in question or another award or awards?
