The Sapper badge is perfectly genuine WWII issue, and even comes with proper period screwplate. The Submariner is unfortunately a fake.

This term is used on ebay as follows:

"35mm x 45mm Brass and Red and white Enamel Badge with screw back suspension very good condition re- issue ".

Oh well I was convinced the sub was a fake, Thanks for confirming this for me.

I figured the sapper was genuine.

looks like the 'reissue' sub badge came from the same batch as mine its identical.

I know this dealer and have always found him to be honest and reliable, So I'm a little surprised at the 'reissue' description.

Does anyone know of a website that lists all the different types of Otlichink badges? ideally with photos?

The seller on ebay was happy with the story, and now he presents more details....:

"In my opinion, this badge must be an UNOFICIAL RESTRIKE of the one of the most collectible badges from the famous 1943 set . The badge looks definitely old and legit , but something "smells bad" with the enamel. May be I was lucky, during my last trip to Russia, but I found 4 of them at one time and at one place. Later I was told that people in Moscow found the original WWII die and "borrowed" it for one night from the factory. They made around 80 unauthorized copies of this extremely desirable badge. "

:p Why just 80?

I think just this guy sold more then 80 of those fakes on eBay. It certainly does "smell bad".

I have a couple of badges that look suspect. The first is a Torpedo Ortificer and the second one I have no idea what it is.
The Torpedomans badge is heavier and thicker than some of that type of badges that I have. The other one is of three piece construction. I have included photos.
