View Poll Results: What do you think of an mini-award graphic for forum supporters?
$20 increments would be great. A new award for each time I donate. 8 47.06%
$50 increments would be better, I like a little privacy regarding what I choose to donate. 1 5.88%
I think one graphic only should be given no matter what the donation. 5 29.41%
I don't like it. I'd rather my donations not be recognized by a graphic. 3 17.65%
Voters: 17. You may not vote on this poll

Art,

Excellent !! In all points excellent !!! You should get some good results in terms of donation.
Just add somewhere a chart describing the various levels so that everyone can estimate and be sure of the hierarchy of the Forum awards.

Cheers.

Ch.

Everyone please vote on what we should do for the mini-awards. I'd at least like to get the opinion of all those who donated. Remember, all votes remain confidential. The poll will close in one week then I will do what the majority wants.

hello...I owe a lot to this forum...but my impression is...humm...is the donation quotation representative of the textual, experience contribution with posts? in other words, who is the best participant, the guy with xxxx USD gievn, the guy with xxxx posts, or the one with quality advices and experience written here? will the person with xxxx usd given to help this place be for the beginner getting in here the best adviser on collecting?

I think even small contributions on small and subjects are worth long debates, and this is only an example as we all too know how vast , gigantic is our field of collecting.
It is not question in my mind to criticize the donation system. It is necessary to help Art in its work.
But is such a classification really necessary in front of growing masses of more and more skilled fakers???? (argh Sauron is back!? )

Sébastien, I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say. I have learned so much from this forum and received so much good advice, that I decided to donate and will do so every year. I view the donation as a membership fee to a medal collecting club. Now wether Art and the other mods decide to add an image to differenciate (sp?) the donors, then why not. It isn't going to affect the boards really, but when new members come on board, they will see that supporteers of the forum are recognized by Art. Makes sense??

Guys, I thought it would be best if I posted a poll and let everyone (particularly those who generously donated ) voice their opinion. Some may feel more comfortable anonymously voting rather than openly discussing the issue..I will of course follow the will of the masses.

hello Dannybou, sorry if I haven't been clear enough...I'm not against giving some money to make living the forum! I think a graduation is superfluity...that's all.

It's up to me (it's time for me?) to donate, but I don't want a good notation like a pupil...please do not take it as an aggressive thinking, this is only an opinion!

best, sebastien

EDIT: excuse me Dolf, I mixed two persons!!!

Sebastien,

Are you sure your reply is for me?!... I guess there is an error, please correct me if I'm wrong

Dolf

Sebastien,

Thanks for correcting your previous post.

By the way I'm one of the very few donors who seem to think (only two votes! ) that one equal graphic for every donors should be the right thing to do, but well majority wins in a democratic system so...
In my humble opinion, equal graphics would be more appropriate in a Forum related to Soviet stuff, see what I mean...

Dolf

Guys,

I think I would also prefer a simpler recognition system - either just one badge or three-four levels max.

Alexei

USD 50 > Order of the Red Star
USD 100 > Order of Alexander Nevski
USD 175 > Order of the Red Banner
USD 300 > Order of Lenin
USD 450 > Hero of Soviet Union
USD 600+ Order of Victory

Just a suggestion

Guys,

How about applying the KISS principle here? I definitely agree with Dolf and Alexei. The important aspect is to distinguish donors from non donors. Beyond that, it is simply superfluous.
