'54 and '57 Medal of Labour/Medal of Service
I apparently have a fetish for the robin's egg blue colour as I cannot seem to stay away from these medals. Neither are particularly rare nor are they cheap; the Rakosi period awards fetch more than the Kadar period awards, which is predictable. I think these are a couple of the nicest looking awards from any country, period.
First, a '54 model Medal of Labour from the Rakosi period. No box or ribbon for this one (sadly).

Re: '54 and '57 Medal of Labour/Medal of Service
Now, the same '54 model Medal of Labour from the Kadar period (post '57 until the medal's end in '64). The biggest clue to this being Kadar is the miniature on the ribbon, the bright silver plating and thicker gold rays on the medal. In case with ribbon.

Re: Medal of Labour
What would be a good price to pay for it nowadays?

Re: Labour Merit Medal.
For almost all Communist period Medals and a few Orders single digits is the maximum outlay. Most of the Medals I have presented cost under $2.
Documented items are a different story.

Re: Labour Merit Medal.
Thanks for your input.
I won a bid for a nice Rakosi era one yesterday. Never seen one going for single digits, and I don´t think I will :( Got mine for $14.99 plus shipping... IMO still a good price considering Rakosi era awards are actually sold for much more.

I can propose 7 links towards Hungary, with prices ranging from 8 to 23 euros, for the labor medal, post-Rakosy era. Esteban , tell me if you want some help even if for me as for many the langage barrier is high with Hungary... But hungarian concurrent of "E" is interesting. But payments from Chile towards Hungary could be uneasy?

Re: Labour Merit Medal.
Thanks, Charlet. I used Paypal, so there was no problem. Besides, the seller was one of our members who actually gave great insights on HPR awards!
I´m not pretending to start a Hungarian section on my collection, but I just loved Rakosi era Merit medals and their light blue backings.
