Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
Senior Lieutenant Savich-Zablotskii has been on the Karelian Front since September 1941.
In October 1941 he and his platoon successfully accomplished their mission in a timely manner by building 20km of telegraph-telephone wire along the Nadvoitsy-Sumpasad line for which they received the Karelian Front commander’s appreciation.
During combat near the Medvezhya Station-Masselskaya Hill line Senior Lieutenant Zablotskii’s platoon repaired breaks along 350 km of line.
From 22 November 1941 to 3 December 1941 Savich-Zablotskii’s platoon supported the telegraph-telephone line from the Maselskii command position to the 263 Rifle Division in heavy fighting near Maselskaya Station. They restored telephone-telegraph communications broken by enemy artillery fire and provided uninterrupted communications for troop control.
During the enemy’s occupation of Maselskaya Station, Zablotskii’s platoon was encircled, however Zablotskii organized his personnel and escaped from the ring, at the same time also saving their construction equipment.
From December 1941 through March 1942 Savich-Zablotskii’s platoon built and hung nine cable lines near Uros lake sluice, Aitalamba, and near Maselskaya Station, in total building and hanging more than 100km of wire.
For honest, good work he received two congratulatory certificates from the Maselskii Group Chief of Communications.
From March 1942 through September 1942 the 535 Independent Signals Battalion Exploitation Company commanded by Senior Lieutenant Savich-Zablotskii supplied exploitation services to the telephone-telegraph line from Army HQ thirty-two kilometers to the 289 and 37 Division HQs. The line maintained its integrity and communications to these sectors was excellent.
At the present Senior Lieutenant Savich-Zablotskii commands the 413 Independent Telegraph Construction Company which accomplishes its missions in a rapid and quality manner.
He is deserving of the Combat Service Medal.
Signed Deputy Chief of Communications for Colonel Nikiforov on 20 December 1942
Awarded the Combat Service Medal by 32 Army Order 0619 dated 30 December 1942, verified by 32 Army Chief of Personnel Quartermaster 2nd Class Akulinin on 3 January 1943

Re: Combat Service Medal,Variable,142133

Nice award on an interesting front Norm :thumbsup. Is this a complete type 1 medal (i.e. not on a pentagonal suspension)?
