I'm sure its nothing to be concerned about, these being super common and all. But I'm just starting a collection, so the common ones seemed a good place to begin =)

Anyways, i grabbed these three for about 15 bucks. The 1st and 2nd class look fine, but the 3rd class on the left seems...funny. The worn patch and the very different suspension are throwing me off. Seems silly anyone would fake these, but hey, weirder things happen.

Hello guys,

a friend of mine gave me this one to check and I was perplexed:

It seems to be issued for MOOP Estonia, but this one reads "MOOP EST. SSR" instead of "MOOP ESSR" !? I have never seen this one before; the coining is crisp clear and the gilding done in high quality just as seen on all genuine medals !? One fellow collector has the opinion that it could be a prototype for Estonia !? Any ideas ??? The collector says that it was bought in 1991.

The story about 1991 is nice, but you can't hang a hat on it.

If it does not appear in recognized references, there is a chance that it could be still legitimate but I wouldn't count on it. The burden of proof is not on the references that have been incorporating 20 years of information.

Look at the "smashed" border at 12 o'clock. I'd say this is a fantasy piece or made by someone that didn't know how the proper abbreviation should read...

I would certainly agree that the "smashed" bit by the ring is the greatest sign that this item is not legitimate.

1991, 2001, 2011 or any other year, fakes have existed for a long time before these dates.
