Opinion about group

Hey folks

I'm quite new to the medal collections,
and I'd like to hear your opinion about this group of medals

Re: Opinion about group

From what I can see looks good. Perhaps missing the 25 Victory Jubilee badge. The Russian Zhukov medal doc seems to be the Moldovan variant.

Re: Opinion about group

It seems to be missing the Victory over Germany (or Japan?) award as well, and no other WW2 awards are present either. Not that there has to be any - a research of the individual would be interesting.

Re: Opinion about group

This may be the "bottom end" of a group or it may indeed be a complete group. The Moldavian SSR had a way of reclassifying the eligibility of "veteran" status. I have a complete group to a Moldavian veteran and the only "Jubilee" award he got was an OPW2'85. No 20, 25, 30, 40, nor Victory Over Germany/Japan.

The moving wartime borders may have had something to do with it.

I concur, a nice Jubilee/Commemorative group of medals and documents.

Re: Opinion about group

Unfortunately research has proven that it is indeed the "bottom end". Someone has harvested the wartime awards. He received a Medal "For Combat Merits" in January 1944. Fortunately you can fill in more blanks about the recipient from the citation.

I've not yet been able to find his OPW1'85 entry but that may be because the name is entered incorrectly but it is not unusual for many files from the non-RSFSR to be slow in presentation.
