I got very lucky with this group.
When I bought it the group only contained the research for the Red Star which is the least "sexy" of the three awards. I was attracted by the fact he had 4 different numbered awards. A very fine "selection".
The group cost $400 on the Forum Marketplace. I must admit I did get a bit carried away with myself but I certainly have no regrets.

I researched the "For Bravery" and Glory 3rd myself and had a surprise!

More information has presented itself.

Vikentij had two brothers who were killed in the first 4 months of the war.

His 1903 born brother Gavril was a Major and commander of the 947th Rifle Regiment. He was KIA 4th October 1941. Posthumously awarded a Medal "For Bravery" in early 1942.

Another brother, Ivan, was a Red Army Soldier in the 220th Rifle Regiment, North Caucasus Front and died of wounds 25th September 1941.

It would seem that Vikentij was lucky only to be wounded and certainly would have had an axe to grind.

There is a bit more information out there in Georgian but it may take some time before I utilise it although I doubt there will be any great revelations.

Dvali is a Dval name. The Dvals were a historical tribe that settled in the Ossetian region of the Caucasus. Ambrolauri is in the South/southern Ossetian region.

Re: Guards Senior Sergeant Vikentij Nikolaevich Dvali, Combat Sanitary Instructor.

I finally found his OPW1'85. As "Bikenti Nikolozovich Dvali" which would be a more Georgian version of his name. The true Georgian version of his name would be ბიკენტი ნიკოლოზ ძე დვალი (Bik'ent'i Nik'oloz dze Dvali). There was a Bik'ent'i Dvali that ran for office in 2007 who is probably a son or grandson.

It shows him as being from Bugueli (ბუგეული) a small settlement near Ambrolauri.
