Pilot-Cosmonaut of the People's Republic of Poland

(Pilot-Kosmonauta Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej)

Instituted by act of Parliament of July 20, 1978. Conferred to the persons who have completed a flight into the open space. The holder of the title is entitled to wear a honorary badge of the title on the right side of the chest.

Badge: a circular medallion 34 mm of diameter. In the center on light blue background there is the head of an astronaut in a space helmet, with a racket encircling it. On the right there is the three line inscription LOTNIK / KOSMONAUTA / PRL. Below the medallion there is a laurel spray adorned with three diamonds. The spray and other metal parts of the badge are of oxydized silver. The reverse is plain with a screw for mounting.

Note: the only person elligible for that decoration was Pilot-Maj. Miroslaw Hermaszewski for his space flight in 1978. For that reason the original items are not present on the market.
