Re: the Kim Il Sung Badge / Pin / Lapel

When it comes to North Korea, it´s hard to know which are fakes and which aren´t.

We still cannot put a finger on their provenance, at least regarding modern pieces. We can´t tell for sure if those pieces we can get are chinese made copies or original(almost all DPRK militaria dealers are chinese :(). Soviet and czech made ones are of a higher quality and easily to tell the difference.

Your badge looks OK though, as almost all these Kim Il Sung allegiance badges available at the market share the same construction quality.

BTW I collect north korean awards too. do you have any other pieces? :)

Re: the Kim Il Sung Badge / Pin / Lapel

Hello and thank you for a quick repply.

I have no other medals or anything, regarding North Korea.
As a matter of fact i collect Third Reich medals, lol so its in a little different place I have some knowledge.

But I started to get more interested in these pins,
I have searched the net but could only find very sparse information on them.

But what I DID found out, is that they apparently are giving to North Koreans when they turn 12 years old, and in 2004 a law was legislated that DONT require them to go with the pin, nevertheless all do it anyway (for apparent reasons I guess :) ).
Also another piece of information I could gather was that the badges with a small hole on the back is supposedly all genuine.
And that the pins like mine are supposedly from the 2000`s and the round versions is from the 80`s and 90`s.

Well any other information is welcomed.

Thank you again for your repply. :)

Kim Il-Sung Badges.

Here is the famous "Kim Il-Sung Flag". Almost EVERY citizen of the DPRK worn one of these in the late 90's and 00's. The badge is constructed from plated aluminium and as expected in any large scale industrial production run there are of course variations. This first variation has a metallic finish to the party flag.

Re: Kim Il-Sung Badges.

These Badges are close to the top of my "wants" list. If you know how I could obtain one or more I would be very happy to know.

Are there now Kim Jong-Un Flag Badges?

Re: Kim Il-Sung Badges.

I also got some money to you if you're able to "find" me some (at least one) too.
I've never seen a Kim Jong Un-badge, but I've seen some possible official portraits, so there's absolutely a chance that they'll come soon.

BTW, if you're over-averagely trusted, you may actually just ask and receive such a badge, unlike how it was 1 year ago.
