Buttons on GPW Woman's Gimnasterka

Supposedly the buttons on a woman's gimnasterka were reversed from the man's version. Most all of the photos that I've seen seem to indicate that that was the case.

But I was recently looking at what was described as a WW II period woman's gimnasterka on which the buttons were not reversed.

So how firm of a "rule" was this? In other words, was it fairly common for a woman's gimnasterka to button in the same way as the man's version?

Not a firm rule at all Bill.

I might be able to show some photos from collection of both types being utilized at a later time.

BTW, often a gymnasterka is such a small size, originally or shrunken, that it is believed to be strictly for a woman...
