Jr Lieutenant Tadeusz Wojnar, Scout Platoon Commander, 1st Light Artillery Regiment
Another group purchesed long ago, and another onepurchesed in portions, yet still incompleate.
The awards shown here are those in my possesion, for sure the "For Warsaw" is missing (it was sold to someone else), Probably also V&F medal and Grunwald Badge are missing, as well as Soviet Awards (he probably got VoG, Liberation of Warsaw and Capture of Berlin), but those were probably never offered. The seller was also selling silver Cross of Virtuti Militari Order which was supposed to be Wojnar's, but no source confirms that he was ever awarded that, also that award's ribbon didn't fitthe rest (was of normal size). So here we have: Polonia Restituta Officer's Cross, Bronze "Meritous On The Field Of Glory" medal, "For Oder, Niesse, Baltic Sea" medal and 1st Infantry Division Badge mini. Here is also the main reason I got interested in this group - an ultra-rare early bilingual ID card that was issued to the soldiers of the first units of the newly-created Polish 1st Infantry Division in 1943. It gives his rank as kanonier (private in artillery - note that russian side says "Enlisted Personnel"). This IDs were used simultanously with "Red Army Booklets" filled-in in Polish untill summer 1944 when new military IDs were issued. Wojnar Probably had his untill January 1945, when he was issued an officer ID (see below) |
