Badge "For The Communist Red Banner".
Hello, I pick up this badge from romania and I was wondering what is it for? I know that it is most likely eastern bloc made.

Re: Unidentified North Korean Badge?
Hey,
from the way of making it could be an aniversary badge or a badge of classification (best...). Maybe someone speaks Korean here :) |

Re: Unidentified North Korean Badge?
It is the award for the members of a "Red Flag" company. It is a type of distinguished unit award for those units that demonstrated particular proficiency in both the military and political areas. There were four different versions of the badge depending upon whether it was the first, second, third, or fourth award of the flag (there is in fact a special flag that the unit carries). I can't recall off the top of my head, but I think that your badge is for a first or fourth award.

Re: Unidentified North Korean Badge?
And, if original - it´s clearly made in North Korea.

Badge "For The Communist Red Banner".
Here's the Badge "For The Communist Red Banner" (공산주의를위하여붉은기). The Badge is somewhat comparable to the "Guards" Badge with a design rather similar to the Commemorative Medal "Great Fatherland Liberation War 1950-1953". This 2nd variation is of a similar construction to the "Guards" Badge Type 2 Variation 2 with the same screwplate it is also constructed of plated Copper.

Re: DPRK Badges.
Here is the Badge "For Communism" (공산주의를위하여) Type 1. Constructed from plated copper. Someone had far too much fun attaching the screwpost.

Re: Badge "For The Communist Red Banner".
Here is a Lance-Sergeant (상급병사) wearing two Banner badges and a bar of the Medal For Military Merits. This happy family portrait was taken on 28th April 1969. Surprisingly this Soldier has no commemorative awards at all even though there were a large number of them awarded the prior year.

Re: Badge "For The Communist Red Banner".
Here is a well worn Type 1 which was converted to a pinback at some point only to have the iron pin perish after this item was buried. If it could talk I'm sure it'd have some tales to tell.
