William,

I would love to see the front too. This certainly is weird. What is that red stuff near the screwpost?

The 7th award was sold for the price of 1100 euros + a buyer's charge of 12,2 %.

The 8th award number 2, is in auction again!
At this time in different auction as in the last time.

I am very surprised! Finland is a quite small country, the collectors know about the last auction and now someone try sell the award again in a such short period. He/she must be a real optimist!

The auction take place on 12th May so let's see what happens...

Here is a group first, second and third awarding of the Red Banner but without any numbers on the obverse.
The #'s are 103200,104460 and 344174.

I was wondering, is there any main reasons for not awarding Red Banners with the number on the avers? Was the demand higher than the issue number?
Could the second or third award be handed in and an order with an award number on the front be issued in exchange?

As far as I know, there was no system for giving out numbered vs un-numbered RBs. It looks like recepients were simply given what was available at time.

There was more of a formal process for senior officers (ie generals), but even for them I've seen mixed groups.

Red Banner - reverse conversion

Colleagues,

Quite freequently we laugh at suspension types Red Banners converted to screwbacks, and most of the times the verdict is either "FAKE" or "someone destroyed fine Red Banner in attempt to make extra buck".

Well, it looks like we should think twice next time before jumping to such conclusion, as some of the reverse conversions may be done by recepients.

Here's an example for you. A member of a different forum posted this photo of Hero SU - and you can clearly see that recepient converted his Red Banner from SUSPENSION to SCREWBACK to match his early awards.

William,

It's not that uncommon, even for high numbered awards. Here's one:

Order of Red Banner Type 2 Variation ??

Greetings to ALL!

This is my first image post to the forum. Many moons ago, I was fortunately enough to come across this gem. It has a curved hand engraved Mondvor and serial number “24530”. However, I haven’t seen any others like it. I would appreciate any input from members of this great forum.

Thanks for all of your contribution to this forum.
