"Polar Star" Order.

Now selling on eBay, a Polar Order of a variation not yet mentioned in this post: a "2003 version" made of brass instead of silver, with a pin mount instead of a screwback. It has a serial number higher than any variation 4 as mentioned in this thread: 31,834.

Gentlemen, any ideas on the authenticity of this order?

See attached pics.

Matt.

I saw it too and I must say it's the very first time I see a piece like this!

Any opinions? Jan?

  Well, gentlemen, I think we've discovered a new Type of OPS.
Unfortunatly, as with other recent global medals and orders, the quality seems to be degrading.

Unusual Polar Star order

This is the most unusual Polar Star I've ever seen. Seller's description:

"This is the latest variation of Polar Star relased in 2003 by the Mongolian government. This specific order is brass made and un-numbered!!!!!"

Is this real thing?

I saw this on ebay also from the seller I buy mongolian awards from.
My understanding is they are real, but not anything like the older versions.

I wouldn't bother with these myself. Just to cheap looking.

Just as note his opening prices are rising.

William,

Yes, this is what our fellow expert on Mongolian Awards, Jan (Vatjan) calls OPS T. V.
I have one, but mine is numbered. So, apparently this is a new variation of this new T. V, I guess! Jan, it seems you have to update your database once again :)
Ron is right, the quality of these Orders is far from the older Types ( II, III and IV ) but I believe they are real. At least the seller Ron mentions (so you are one of those who outbids me sometimes Ron?... ;) ) never deceived me so far with any kind of fakes!

I've been told that the new ORCB's, ORBL's and OCM's are now also made of goldcoloured brass, rather than from silver. I don't have pix yet, but I bet they are ugly :p

Re: Order of the Polar Star

Type 5

Or Type 4.2. The nasty ugly shameful brass one. You also see these unnumbered, obvious escapees from stock, sneaked out the back door.
