Re: Translation Help

How about a name rather than a slogan.

The first bit could then be Sasha.

Tanker/Pilot Voenni Bilet

Hi Folks,

Doing some work on a booklet for a guy who starts out with tanks and ends up in a bomber regiment.

Got a few bits I need to translate to finish up.
  1. This seems to be something like "Division Head, Combatants and Personnel of Air Regiment". Is this correct?
  2. Any ideas what the course was that he attended in Kiev?
  3. Is this GL Kom - central command?
  4. 21st ? 24th Guards ? 240th Guards Bomber Regiment
As always any help greatly appreciated.

Simon

Re: Tanker/Pilot Voenni Bilet

1. Otd. stands for otdel (section / department), so I'd say it reads "Chief of the department for combat readiness and personnel of an aviation regiment".
2. I think "pod-ki" stands for podgotovki (podgotovka, preparation) and "l-tov" for leitenantov (leitenanty, Lieutenants), so it is probably a Lieutenants training course.
3. 21st Long Range Bomber Regiment, 50th Aviation Division. I'm not sure about the first word on the next line, but it ends with "commander of (or in) the Odessa Military District".
4. 21st, redesignated as 24th Guards, and later renamed to 240th Guards Long Range Bomber Regiment.
That's this regiment:
21  -> 21   -> 24   -> 240

Hope this helps.

Doing some work on another VB. Got it finished apart from these two short bits:
  1. Name of village
  2. Naval ? ?

As always any help appreciated.

Re: Tanker/Pilot Voenni Bilet

Thanks, couldn't work out the ship bit. I don't have a big enough Russian vocabulary yet.

What are these?

These are descriptors from Avers8:
1) Латунь.
2) Змаль
3) Внит
4) Томпак

1 is brass
2 is enamel?
3 I don't know
4 I'd guess is tombak

Re: What are these?

Eric, number 3 "Vint" means it has a screw post (rather than pin or hanger).;) All the rest are correct as far as I remember.

Merry Christmas brother:thumbsup

Thanks Philsky! I'm adding these to the Avers8 translated post.
