William,
I saw that too for both the 100 Rubles silver coin and the 10.000 Rubles gold coin, but is it possible that a coin weights 1 Kg?!... Specially when the other two coins weight 31,1 gr and 7,78 gr ! Well, maybe only for collecting, as I don't see a person carrying such a heavy piece on the pockets and pay for a bread with these coins... ![]() Dolf |

Dolf,
Yes, mints arond the world have been producing coins that weigh 1kg in silver, gold and platinum. Actually, the Austrian mint has even recently struck a 32kg gold coin which, to this day, is the heaviest struck. The competition goes on ![]() Marc |

Marc, WOW! I know about the mints producing this kind of commemorative coins (the Bank of Portugal does the same from time to time) but I didn't know they could be so heavy! Definetely not the coin to go get some bread at the bakers shop ![]() Dolf |

Dolf,
Officially, you can redeem them for their face value, but who would want to do it at a fraction of a cent in the dollar! Marc |

I really love the design of the one at the far right, with all the flag going down, but at that price I'll have to pass on this one!!!
