Labour Order.
A member of another forum has this medal. I no that the picture is bad and the ribbon color is, for the moment, unclear. I hope that someone here would ID this medal.

I think it's a People's Republic of laos labour medal, missing the enamel/paint work in the middle, also on a wrong suspension. Maybe just another class of the award though.
Awarded by the Laotian People's Democratic Republic The Peoples Republic of Laos medals always have the wheat and part of the cog wheel on them its part of their coat of arms. Regarding this the Hammer and sickle would denote the award as a labour one. Eddie.

Please help identify
Guys,
Jeff Floyd just confirmed that it is from Laos. It's the Lao Peoples Democratic Republic Medal for Labor. The ribbon is properly red/blue/red. Comes in the classes: gold, silver and bronze. Best, Doc |

Re: Medal For Labour, People's Democratic Republic of Laos
Here's another troubled version of the Medal for Labor / Liansai Haang Ngan (sorry, I can't do the Khmer properly). Established in 1977. This is the early Czech-made 2nd class, possibly never issued. The ribbon, of course, is wrong wrong wrong. :(

Re: Medal For Labour
It does seem to look a bit more "together" than many other examples.

Re: Medal For Labour
The first medal is the Lao PDR labor medal second class (silver) originally manufactured by the Czechs, but ultimately this design was not used. The ribbon is a concoction, and the enamel is broken out. From time to time I see these damaged medals and with incorrect ribbons, often emanating out of the UK.
The other medal displayed is the version which was ultimately used (3 classes - gold/silver/pinkish bronze). I've some further info with a few more photos on the Lao PDR section of my Indochina medals website : Indochina Medals - Lao PDR - Medal of Labor (I've been working on it for a while, and just got thru the first pass on it :yahoo - it still needs some work however... and comments, suggestions, or additional info are much appreciated.) The Lao PDR medals are not so common, but there is a glut now on ebay this past year, from the liquidated old stocks of E. Blass. Cordially, Rdave |

Re: Order Of Labour
Here is a Type 1 2nd Class Order Of Labour (ຫລຽນກາແຮງງານ). This example may be on the wrong ribbon (it's Vietnamese) but it does have traces of once being enamelled with red enamel.
If you put the Laotian name in google you will find many images of award ceremonies.
