And another Badge, MPR, The Outstanding Herder (or J 03 on Dr. Battushig's book).
Again, front, back and the screwnut, this one a quite big one. I'll measure and weight later both these Badges nuts for our education. This Badge is not serial numbered. Best, Dolf |

Re: Distinguished Herder Badges
Type 3 -- Cyrillic legend, unnumbered.
(Sadly, I don't seem to have scanned the reverse. I shall retrieve these badges and remedy this once our current American holiday is over.) Battushig #J03. |

Re: Distinguished Herder Badges
Two documents for this type, one from 1957 and one from 1962.

Related, but separate, there is the badge for the outstanding ranger-herder (think "cowboy").
Type 1 -- medium blue sky. These are not numbered. I have to wonder whether the differences in enamel are just "noise" in the manufacturing process, but I retain Battushig's distinction of these two, with thsi being #J04. (Again, reverses seem to be unscanned for these. I can add them too once the bank reopens.) Type 2.1 -- light blue sky, no enamel on leaves to right. The differences in the enamel colour of the sky is clearer in the real thing than it is in these scans. Battushig #J04b. Type 2.2 -- light blue sky, green enamel on leaves to right. Once again, is this just a deviant based on manufacturing "noise"? Not in Battushig. |

Re: Distinguished Herder Badges
I have no documents for this badge. Wish I did.
But, while we're talking deviants, here is a naked bronze unfinished version of this ranger-herder badge to close out this thread. There are other, later, herders' badges including a flock (pun intended) of aimag-specific badges. I can add them here or elsewhere if there's any interest. |

"Leading Herder" Badge.
This one is "The Outstanding State Animal Ranger-Herder." This is Battushig J04, with translucent enamel..the enamelwork has almost the quality of watercolor. I believe the original screwplate should be an Ulanbaatarhot, but I am not sure.
