Found in the $1 bin at the local...

A Lenin?
An OG1?
A real OoV, maybe????

Well, not quite. But no doubt I got my money's worth!

My balalaika's ringing out and a few Moscow girls may or may not sing and shout, but....

Re: Today's haul! found in the $1 bin at the local...

I have an EP from the early '60's released by "His Master's Voice" (An English non-Stalinist record label) as part of the "Your kind of music" range of the Red Army Choir doing the "Hymn" and a trio of "peasant" songs. There are large numbers of Red Army recordings available on western record labels but you won't find them in the "Top 40" or "Top Tio". For YEARS I have been looking for a 78rpm of Paul Robeson's recording of the Hymn from about 1946. They must be out there but where? They'd get rather smashed up in a $1 bin....

Wish I could add more to the discussion on Russian folk music..I came across this set of CDs about 15 years ago, still enjoy listening to them every now and then.
