Mongolian Awards In Wear.

here is it! official photo of Yumjaagiyn Tsedenbal: look at the bullion work for traditional geometric emblems;
5 sukhe-bator, 2 lenins, 1 karl-marx, 1 dimitrov, 1 white eagle (CSSR), 1 grand cross of merit of people's republic of poland, grand cross of polononia restituta, grand star of friendship amongst peoples of DDR, 1st class of national flag of people's republic of hungary, certainly 1st class of Korean national flag , maybe a kutuzov 1st class?
...even the Halkin-gol and a guard badges...hero of MPR, heroes of soc labour and the marshal star.

Buuuuuhhhh...I imaginated Tsedenbal not so "no-hero". He has the face of any chilean grandpa...
Is it my idea or he has the Victory over Germany medal? And also it seems that he had more soviet and foreign awards than mongolian ones!
Nevertheless, I can´t find yet the Guards badge.

Sorry for that somewhat confusing title, but the meaning is to show
Photos of Officers wearing Mongolian Awards.
I have been looking through my collection of Soviet Photos and found a few
hope you out there have more , it would be fun to see what kind of Orders and medals we can identify.

First out is Lt-Gen Vasilij Nikolajevich Kasputin
with Victory over Japan and 30 years Victory of Japan

This very impressive ? looking man is Art Colonel P.G Chepurenko
who wear his Halkin Gol Badge with pride !
he also has an Victory over Japan medal

Mongolian soldier with Military Valor Order and something to the right that I do not recognize.

From the mondvor site, another Military Valor order.

Picture of Choibalsan, it's not a very clear pic but there seem to be :

5 Orders of the Red Banner for Military Valour
1 Sukhe Bator Order
1 Lenin Order
2 ORB's
1 Order of the Polar Star
1 Tuvian order of the Republic type 2
20th anniv Red army medal
and a type 2 of the Mongolian Distinguished KGB badge

Vatjan,

Choibalsan has 15yrs OGPU and XXyrs RKKA awards.

Was he really a member of OGPU and Red Army or was it just a nice gesture on the Soviet part to award him these decorations?

Thanks,
William

Hi Guys,

I do not know if he really was a member of OGPU, probably not. He might have been a Mongolian KGB member. The Russian badges/medals were most likely soviet gifts to a head of state. Though I must admit I do not know anything about his career, so I'm just speculating.

Dolf, yes, we're talking about the 2 badges on the first row. You can find the Mongolian badge, in this thread:
http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...0&page=2&pp=15

and the OGPU badge here :

Re: Mongolian Security Service Badges

Honored Employee of State Security Comrade Taya wearing the Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Interior along with the Order of the Red Banner of Military Valor. The photo shows that Comrade Taya, unlike his many other colleagues, did not change his older type badge and order with later type ones. The photo taken in late 1970s.

I, for one, am glad he kept the original. They were so much nicer looking and better made.:thumbsup (Plus they were very large in comparison to the later ones).
