There is a good line of questioning here.
The position could be open to some debate. He could be a driver as in he drives the "special" fire engine but it could be that he drove supplies for maintenance to various servicing areas. It could be a different position again. There are a great number of times where the reality of someone's duties does not match the label at all.

Using Occam's razor I would go for just a general driver in this firefighting unit.
However, one dictionary I use also gives operator as well as driver. Simon |

Yes, it's Kuzminichna in Russian (daughter of Kuzma). A man would have the patronymic 'Kuzmich'. Just like Ilyich / Ilyinichna, son / daughter of Ilya. :)
