Another soviet uniform question...
What does the 'shoulder string' (I don't know the proper english word) on the uniform of the soviet troops stand for? How was it won and who could recive it?

that is a cord attached for troops are demobilizing. it was not official, but it was used simply to spruce up the uniforms so that they stood out on their special day.
i believe, please anyone correct me if i am wrong

Thanks for all your replies. I was unable to log in for some time, now (in time for Victory Day) I am back...hmmm they where totaly unofficial? That is strang. I have seen a pictur of guards wearing them on parade. I see if I can upload it.

Yes, and no. It was also officially established for Honor Guard and military parades.
