Tal,

I am still paying the same price for the Virgin Lands I was a year ago, but Defense of Kiev went up a bit recently.

The future

Well. We all know that some orders and medals are get rarer and rarer.

From a dealer POV, what lay ahed? In a few years, will the price for 30 years for WW2 whould be in a range of $30? Order of the red banner of labor (type 6) for $100?

Is NOW the time to stock medals of almost any kind?

Tal

Tal,

In my opinion the common medals will not go up in price greatly over the next few years. What will continue to go up in value are the awards that have a limited number, rare variations, pre-1943 Orders and complete groups.

Just my opinion,

Ed,

I think I will disagree with you. In my experience prices for the most common medals went up very significantly last summer, at least my suppliers now want .75 - 1.50 for medals I used to buy for .50-.75 four-five months ago. And you are certainly right about harder to find items, they have increased in price recently and will continue to go up.

Alexei,

I agree with you also. I just do not think I explained myself well in my reply. If I am going to stock up on items, I would not worry about the common stuff. Even with your 100% to 200% increase in price, its still only a couple of dollars (I wish I had your suppliers as I pay much more then that). The rare stuff is going up just as gfast but a 100%--200% on a $200 or $500 is going to cost you some real money.

If I had to stock up on something, I would buy the rarer items and not worry about the common.

Just my opinion,

Ed,

I guess I just wanted to pint out that percentage-wise price increase is much more significant for common medals, but of course they will still be affordable. Wish I could stock up on rare items.

I sit and shake my head today---thinking about the HSU stars in the 1992-1995 timeframe I passed up on at the $500-700 mark thinking them too expensive, while buying GPW's at the $100 and Red banners at the $50 mark thinking them a deal at the time------timing in life is everything I guess

Karlos,

I don't think genuine HSU stars were ever this cheap.

Alexi

have listings from Igor M. from that time period (1992-1993)listing HSU @ $500 (now a well respected dealer but at the time a entreprenuer)

Can scan them in to the forum if you like to see the prices that were asking prices at the time
