For my part I havn't seen one before apart from in The Soviet Navy Flag sections of various Web sites.
The little info that I had was On a Russian site and I had to put that through the translator.

none of these modern naval flags are rare, simply because they were all made in huge numbers.

a WWII naval flag would be rare, but naval flags are not a rarity for modern items.

The following Two Navy Flags are at the moment on offer.
The first is a Flag of the chief of the General staff of the Navy of the USSR.

And the second is a Flag of the commander a flotilla, or squadron.

I have one exactly like it. It is small and is easy to display in my "office" with all the other items on the walls (including flags). The important thing here is that you felt enough about it to bid or buy it on the auction site. If you want something because it allows you actually "lay hands" on history, the value is up to you. If you want it to turn around and sell it, well that's another story.

Keep buying what interests you and what you can afford. After a while you will refine your focus (unless you are like me) and then you can start the harder process than acquiring something - the research to find out how and by whom it was used.

There's no use in heeding pointless criticism designed to draw attention to a person laking social skills and manners or the sense not to walk into a crowded art gallery (to use a more appropriate analogy) and yell "Useless junk!"
