this too is very early, the buttons and diamond are not dated or readable any more.

i estimate a early 70's production to witch a officer later added a gold cord.

Sorry the caps are not for sale.
To find a badge you have to be patient and look regularly on E***....(That's where I found mine...)
Price can go up to 200.00 or more (depending on how hard the buyer wants it of course....)
The other solution which is harder is to get the right contact with somebody of the Presidential Regiment or of the Kremlin Komendatura;but that's another story I'm afraid....

I have dig up an new and great KGB parade cap example.

I like to know your thoughts about it.

It has the general grade inside.
Buttons are dated 86 and 87.

My 2 cents are that this is a honor guard cap.

It could be honor guard, but it might also be one of the "KGB Generals" caps that did not have the embroidery added; they might have put on this officers dress badge / buttons for some reason. Might be difficult to nail down.

Doug, I always get nervous when I see this type of lining with the red ribbon and light-brown leather. It is the same in my "KGB General's" parade uniform that was miraculously never issued.:rolleyes: I bought it a very long time ago before I knew anything about uniforms (not saying that I know much more now, but at least I know who I can trust;)).

It at least does resemble the ones worn in the picture in post #24 (minus the crown badge).

Those shiny bright oily visors (and is that yellow cord?) gives me a bad feeling. Combined with the general style interior - I am very skeptic.

I agree with Tretov, its got a strange set up to it, I bought a fake KGB generals visor from a seller in Ukraine and its got the same lining without the stamped sweat diamond/patch.

And sort of off topic, but does anybody know if the FSB has a uniform similar to the KGB? Or any uniform at all for that matter? I was browsing the English Russia site and amongst its many articles I saw half a cap showing from the side of the picture which was in KGB service cap colours, but with a Russian federation Badge and I thought it could very well be an FSB cap. Anybody have additional info?

Without going too far off topic either, yes the FSB and SVR (former First Chief Directorate of the KGB) have uniforms. The last FSB uniform I saw was on a colonel and it was a light grey color with the royal blue piping. It was a parade uniform and it was many years ago. They no longer have collar tabs - just the sword and shield (and eagle) insignia. The caps are just as large as the rest of the RF armed services. If I find a picture, I will give you a link. The only SVR uniform I ever saw was in 1996 in Moscow and it looked like a converted or copy of the black diplomatic corps uniform with different insignia (sword, shield and sunburst star with a globe in the center).

Back to the subject, and as I said above, I have a "KGB General" parade uniform from the Ukraine. Thankfully, I didn't pay nearly what people want for them now, but since there was not a hole or stitch out of place, I have to assume that the whole uniform - cap included - was made to order or for collectors. It will work great one day for a display of orders, medals and badges, but I would never sell it as authentic. The point is that it has this same sweatband and leather "diamond." That is why I am having doubts about this one.
