Tu-104

This is described as a 1960's USSR TU-104 pilot badge pin.

The Tupelov TU- 104 was introduced in 1956. When the "Tupelov-104" began flying, it was the first Soviet passenger jet. It was, in fact, a modified Soviet Badger Bomber.

Here's the badge I wrote about in the Red Army Units thread over in the Researchers Corner. I believe it to be 3rd Aviation Squadron, OKA. There is a possibility that it could be a very early Red Banner Caucasus Army aviation badge, but not likely. The shield with the number is changeable, should you find yourself transferred to, say, the 4th.

Great Badges Chuck!

Here are a few old Graduation Badges.

The Soviet military had a series of advance training schools for various aviation specialties. Graduates were top performers and had the right to wear the badge from the school.

VVS - Fighter School / VVS - Bombadier / VVS - Air Gunner

Hello Taz

I have been looking for your advanced course badges for more than two years and I have never seen one offered for sale. In fact, I have only seen one of them, ever. You really have some beauties there and they would be top-level pieces in any museum collection of aviation. As for the Naval Aviation badges, they are also impossible to find. I have never seen them here, and I have seen some very advanced collections in Tbilisi.

I've got a show-stopper early militia badge to post on this forum. Maybe later today.

Best to all,

Chuck

Guys,
Here are three Aviation Academy Badges. MAI (Moscow aviation institute) LIAP and one without any letters.
Does anybody have any ideas what they are?

Eddie.

Eddie,

LIAP stands for Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instruments.
