Short, concrete description of his combat feat or merits:

He constantly carries out major efforts to instill a high military discipline in his men and improve their combat readiness. At the beginning of November, when his unit was carrying out a combat mission, he displayed bravery and courage. By personal example he inspired his soldiers to perform their tasks pertaining to resuming operating the railroad sector in a successful manner.

On November 4 of this year he headed a unit during the disarmament of insurgents at one of the railroad stations and ensured the quick capture of the station’s most important objectives. He carried out major efforts in combating sabotage, which contributed to establishing normal rail traffic through the sector and the timely rail transport of military cargo.

While ensuring that the unit’s combat mission was being accomplished, comrade Matveyev showed himself an energetic and strong-willed political functionary and a good organizer.

For his skillful and decisive actions during the combat mission, Captain Matveyev deserves to be awarded the Order of the Red Star.
