Order of Victory

Some time ago, i heard a story that one of the original Order of victory was sold at a auction house. If i remember correctly, it was Eisenhowers OoV. Could be just a urban legend?
If not it would be cool to know what the price was and who bought it?

Best regards

Hello Martin,

Welcome aboard. The Eisenhower Order of Victory was still in his childhood home in Kansas about 6 months ago when I visited there to see this piece. Any stories of this Order of Victory being sold are just rumors.

Ok, thanks for both your welcome and your reply.

I picked up the story on a collectors market in Krakow, Poland 5-6 years ago. Could it be someone else's?

Does also anyone knows were to find a good reproduction, and also what to expect moneytwise?

Best regards

Martin,

Welcome to the forum. Bryan is correct, the Eisenhower Order of Victory is still at the Eisenhower Library in Abilene, Kansas.

Just a suggestion, we had a very long discussion some time ago on The Order of Victory, try searching for the words "Order of Victory" I think we even discussed one of these awards being auctioned.. Perhaps this is where you are getting the information from.

Regarding a nice copy, I think Alexei and/or Ed might be able to help. You can PM them or email them.

Given the fact that a genuine order of victory is most likely a dream for us (unless we plan a dare assault on Russia's state history museum or, say, the Gohran), I would like your help in categorise the replicas of this order.

The price range is $400+ - $2,000, depending on quality, and at least on ebay it is rarely offered - I saw it offered about ONCE A YEAR.

Please help - if you have one of the copies, please tell us about it.

(My fellow moderators - feel FREE to edit my posts to incorporate explanations and remarks. I'll do the same.)

Note that the "CCCP" in this one is silver coloured, as it should be:

This copy comes with a nice box:

Also included - ribbon for the order:
