Here is a Type 1 Medal "Defender Of Pridnestrovie". Produced at Leningrad Mint (prior to the name change to Saint Petersburg). The Medal was instituted on 16th June 1993. Correct numbers of those awarded could be accurately calculated by tallying up the recipients in the decrees (a job for later).
