Here is a pair I've been asked to post for forum member Bulmer. A marketplace purchase - and first step into collecting, he wants to share with us all (as all marketplace purchases should be).

Are you sure the regiment was in 3 Gds ABN Division? Sharp's book has it in the 5 Gds ABN DIV.

Probably is 5th. The type is rather poor on that digit. Although the rear is very clearly stamped "6th Division" twice which isn't 3rd or 5th.

Re: Guards Junior Sergeant Ivan Ivanovich Patys'ev, Airborne Trophy Collector.
Here are the locations of action. The first picture shows Jora-De-Sus, Moldova which juts out eastwards to what is now the PMR.
The second picture marks all of the battles named in both citations. A straight push from Russia through Ukraine, Moldova and into Romania.

It's 6 Gds ABN DIV - not 3 or 5.

I have never seen a citation or a job description for a salvage specialist before. Pretty interesting stuff here.
