Word Translation Help Needed
All:
I just received some research and one of the awards is to an officer in a "Plastunskovo" Regiment. Any idea of what that might be? The full name of the regiment is: 121st Plastunskovo Red Banner Regiment, 9th Plastunskoi Krasnodarskoi Division. At first, I thought it was an honorary title, but then went to look up the division and there are no descriptors of what the division is... No rifles, cavarly, tanks, etc. So, I'm forced to assume that it's a Plastunkovo division. The only military word I could find that matches is a historical Russian word used for dismounted Cossacks, called "Plastun." Any thoughts???? Thanks Dave |

“Plastun” (plural Plastuny) came from russian word “rasplastatsia” - get flat on the ground. This is old term for kazak’s infantry units fighting on foot, not on horseback.
9th plastunskay rifle division was unique military unit in Red Army formed in September 1943 on base of 9th mountain rifle division. Plastunskay division had 3 infantry regiments 36, 121 and 193(3 battalion each) 256 artillery regiment, 1448 self-propelled gun regiment and 55-й оиптд, 26-я рр, 140-й сапб, 232-й обс (1432-я орс), 123-й медсанбат, 553-я орхз, 161-я атр, 104-я пхп, 156-й двл, 203-я ппс, 216-я пкг. Hi
The award with box came today and it´s a beauty.
The box that I suspected was east german is in fact soviet issue in hard red plastic with great seal on cover and special pocket for award document. The red cloth is lowered to fit behind the order and there is the ribbon bar included. All in mint condition. The book is dated 1 may 1984. It´s the type 7 award booklet in paul mc daniel s bible. The award box is the same as in Mc Daniels chapter on Orden of honor on page 184. I don´t have a digital camera at home right now. Best Erik

This is a Military Book of the officer.
You are correct, he was terminated from his service due to death. He died from heart problems. Before the last information in the book, there is an information about his movements during the service in military. Eric. |
