Soviet Parade Dagger

Hello,

on the blade of soviet parade daggers are two engravings. On one side the porducer (SIK or Bulat) and the producing year e.g. 1954.

On the other side of the dagger is a kind of serial number / producing number.

In the first years of producing it consist of a letter combination and number combination (see picture)
In the last years of production is only a number engraved e.g. 154977.

I have never noticed / realized that some blade have an engraved latin N and some an engraved russian и.

Why is there a latin N engraved?
I saw a dozen of them.

This exclude that the latin N is an engraving / writing error, I also exclude that these daggers are copies.

Any oppinions?

best regards and thanks
Andreas

Re: Soviet Parade Dagger

I wish I still had my Navy dagger, or even images of it. If I did I'd like to help.
But sadly it was stolen about 15 years ago.

Andreas, Russians routinely used the Latin "No" for a serial number. I can't see the serial number from your photo, but maybe that's the reason?

Re: Soviet Parade Dagger

Thanks,

yes the N was used on daggers as a abriviation for Number. I got the answer from a russian collector.
Here is an example.
