Re: Help- Imperial russian medal

Most likely a jetton to commemorate the February revolution. I am almost certain that it is not communist. There are many different kinds of jettons and pins from 1917 with different designs and leaders or generals on them. But i don't think these are official Gov't medals from the provisional gov't. Most likely just patriotic items people may have worn. Any other guesses?

Re: Help- Imperial russian medal

This is a good one. It is a jetton manufactured by the Kuchkin factory in Moscow, and comes from the "Temporary Government" period of Feb 1917-Oct 1917. This one, and a related one with a warrior slaying the dragon (attached), are considered by collectors to be "jettons with medal status." Most likely, they were not sold--one popular theory was that they were given to troops departing to the front. I'd love to own one of these myself, enjoy it!

Re: Help- Imperial russian medal

Here are a couple of other Kuchkin factory jettons in my collection. They were quite beautifully done, and from a very romantic time in Russia's history. From the research I've done, all tracks of the factory proprietor, Kuchkin, have been lost after the revolution.
