Table Medal "90th Anniversary Of The Death Of Hristo Botev".

This desk medal is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the death of Bulgarian National hero Hristo Botev. On the averse is the portrait relief of Botev , surrounded by the inscription in Cyrillic: "The one who falls in a battle for freedom, he never dies" - the most popular phrase of the poet-revolutioner. On the reverse is the legendary ship "Radetcki".
This desk medal is of two classes - gold and silver. The one in gold is massive and measures 6cm diameter.

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of Botev's death, a full-size replica of the steamship "Radetski" was built to become the center of the nationwide Young Pioneer (9 to 14 years old) meeting in 1966.

In 1876, Botev and his revolutionary friends had highjacked the Austrian ship to get to Bulgaria and join the uprising against the Turkish occupiers. Turkish soldiers killed Botev two weeks after he landed in Bulgaria.
