Just in case, here's the one that started the thread:

The going rate in Russia is about $80 per medal. This is one expensive set of commemorative medals!

Rusty,

Great job buddy!
Quite expensive set indeed, if selling for about $80 each Medal! Some $1,440.00 for the 18
And at least all those you posted are quite nice!

Thanks,

Dolf

Funny that they all have a look-a-like ribbon from the Capture of Berlin.

Hi Rusty,

Great job!!! Thanks. :)
I agree these medals look not bad at all!!

Do we have more details about this "Moscow Committee of Veterans of War" ?
Who chairs it ? Members ? etc...

Cheers.

Thanks guys for the vote of confidence!

Here's some info I dug-up on the organization from different Russian sources on the web. I had a dirty (online) translation done since it may take me several hours to do this...

From: http://www.kosmoskva.ru/9/2/i6_71.htm

The Moscow committee of veterans of war - joint supervising body of the Moscow public organization of veterans.

The total number of the veterans who are included in Committee is about 80 thousand people, incorporated into 542 primary organizations.

Priority directions of activity - upholding interests of front-line soldiers, rendering of material aid for them and encouragement, the organization of cultural - educational work, perpetuating of memory of defenders of fatherland, education of youth.

Work on attracting youth of Moscow to remember war actions, an establishment of names of the soldiers who were lost during the war, accomplishment of military burial places is constantly conducted.

The committee carries out(spends) meetings of veterans of the wars devoted to strengthening of the international communications(connections), friendship and mutual understanding between peoples, taking part in route of fascism.

Active publishing is conducted. It has prepared and released series of books with me***rs of veterans of Great Patriotic War.

The Moscow Committee of veterans of war works in close commonwealth with other public veteran organizations of Moscow and Russia, with the veteran organizations of countries - participants of the Second world war. In 2001 the Committee has noted it's 30th anniversary.

Address:
121002, Moscow, Карманицкий пер., 1/3

Anyway, back to the subject, after all the Medal that started this thread wasn't issued by a particular Partisan Veterans organisation, but rather by a larger organisation of Veterans of War, probably including former Partisans among their members! Interesting!

To me it explained how a non-government organization was able to produce medals to be manufactured at the state mint.
