KGB 60th Jubilee
I saw this and it reminded me of the 1978 "OO" (separate section) badge. Any opinions?

Re: Odd KGB 60th Jubliee
genuine. But it is a simple commemorative badge, not an official state or state organ distinction.

Re: Odd KGB 60th Jubliee
KGB "commemorative" badges made with these types of pins were generally available anywhere there was any sort of KGB celebration throughout the entire Soviet Union. Produced en masse for the masses - parade goers, those interested in attending whatever functions were going on from games to brief (and highly sanitized) KGB history presentations; perhaps even a KGB produced film might be shown as the sun fell.
Frankly, I wouldn't mind getting one myself.:D P.

This is the first one I have seen... the reason it caught my eye, because of the “separate section” badge that was made a year later (in 1978) which is posted on Shawn Caza's site:

Re: Odd KGB 60th Jubliee
I am not putting it down by any means. It is a cool badge regardless of its origins. The only thing I would suggest is a look at the back of the badge you just posted to see what I'm talking about.
I came across a commemorative KGB badge that I didn't realize was one until a member of this forum pointed it out. I had never seen one of them before either. Now it's in the case with the rest of my KGB collection. Phillip

Re: Odd KGB 60th Jubliee
I understand about jubilee badges… I am just curious as to why this 60 years jubilee badge for the KGB was used as the design for the 60 years jubilee for the “OO” badge. Is there some kind of connection between the two?

Re: Odd KGB 60th Jubliee
Its not the same design...
Its the standard kgb sword and shield combo used in the piece but they look different enough to me. It makes sense that a jubilee medal would incorporate images and closely resemble an official piece. Unless you're getting at something that's just going straight over my head which is always possible. |

As for the KGB OO jubilee pin - it is very similar to one I have with no writing on it and blue paint instead of red in the shield border and the center star. Tommy - you are not wrong or out of your depth. Don't worry.:) Phillip
